Treasury Action Adds Six Bitcoin Addresses to OFAC List, Removes One

The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced a broad sanctions action on August 24, 2026, targeting Iranian financial networks and other activities while also making significant changes to sanctions involving Syria. OFAC’s accompanying SDN List update includes several cryptocurrency addresses identified as “Digital Currency Address – XBT,” OFAC’s designation for Bitcoin.

Six Bitcoin addresses added

OFAC added the following six Bitcoin addresses to the SDN List:

Keyvan Fayyaz Gareh Blagh

  • bc1qf6zxs4lkp9umh6hf087mh70w0ymcyt8cunp58r
  • bc1qr2pwmvkpq5tc5um2g9uh34yyu6wepwx89rts70
  • bc1q4ktvxxhhvf8qhs9qkdsm9arcxfmmeex6rl7n50

Behzad Mesri (“Skote Vahshat”)

  • 12aNKp2iDKuhEde2YfPdd4DFGenRUTKupL

OFAC identifies Blagh, Ghal’eh-Kuhi and Kahzadian as Iranian individuals designated under its cyber-related sanctions authorities. Mesri is listed in connection with NET PEYGARD SAMAVAT COMPANY and carries the [HRIT-IR] and [CYBER2] designations.

One Bitcoin address removed

The same August 24 OFAC action also records the removal of a Bitcoin address from the SDN List:

Farrukh Furkatovitch Fayzimatov, also known as Faruk Furkatovich / Faruk al-Shami

  • 17a5bpKvEp1j1Trs4qTbcNZrby53JbaS9C

OFAC lists this address in multiple alias records for Fayzimatov/Faruk al-Shami. Those records appear under the SDN-list deletions associated with the removal of al-Nusrah Front and related Syrian sanctions changes.

Treasury said its Iran action includes a new determination covering the digital asset sector of the Iranian economy, alongside aviation, gold, shipping and technology. Treasury described the broader campaign as an effort to disrupt financial channels supporting the Iranian regime and said cryptocurrency has been used for sanctions evasion and transactions connected to Iranian regime insiders.
